This is my story & I'm sticking to it. I was in the Tire & Auto Service business for 22 years. You may not be familiar with this type of business, but let me start by telling you that it is highly labor intensive, very hands on & requires strict adherence to paying attention to the daily activities to remain profitable & continually grow. Without growth the business will stagnate & expenses will eventually eat you up! In 1999, my business had grown to immense proportions & I had already hit a flat spot. Luckily I had some great people working for me, but because of the flat spot, they felt stagnated and needed to move on. I felt that I could handle all of the work myself & save tons of money. I found that business is a lot like eating, there is only so much one can put on their plate without feeling the effects; and feel the effects I did! I was stressed, overworked & did not have enough time to spend with my family. At this point in my life I was looking into selling my business, but did not feel I would get the amount of money I believed that my business was worth. I found an option that I felt could be the best of both worlds. I made a deal with my largest tire supplier to lease out the facility and I would run it as one of their locations. It was during this time that our Snap-On tool distributor had constantly approached me about a business idea that he thought I would excel in. At the time I was already trying to create some additional income by becoming involved with a health & wellness company that had a binary pay system & wanted you to become a distributor. I also tried my hand at commodities. I certainly did not make enough money in either to keep me interested. Finally, after a year had passed I agreed to sit with our Snap-On tool distributor. The business idea was with a company called Melaleuca. I was skeptical because I could barely pronounce it, let alone spell it. What he told me that day amazed me. I wished I had found it 10 years earlier! I did not know that companies like this existed. I became a preferred customer immediately! I did this because the products were high quality & the compensation plan if I chose to become involved with it as a business, excited me. This seemed like a no brainer and I was looking forward to find out all the perks for myself. The really great thing about this company that was so different than any other opportunity I had seen was that they laid all their cards on the table & completely explained the program; how it worked for preferred customers or people who wanted to build a business. There was no financial risk, no ordering, delivery or inventory. It can be done on a part time or full time basis. The vast majority of income to be made was residual income.
